My Poetry

 A POEM TO THE DIVINE
By Jessica Y. Castaneda
Written on May 2, 2012

I can see your compassion in a child's eyes
and also in a lovely butterfly.
I can smell your scent from the beautiful flowers
and also from the fresh spring showers.
I can feel your warmth as I walk through the sand
and whenever somebody holds my hand.
I can hear your voice through the ocean waves
and also through the deep dark caves.
I can see your beauty in a stranger's face
and also in my mother's grace.
I can smell your presence in the salty sea
and also from a fruity tree.
I can feel your tenderness through the gentle wind
and also through a hug from a friend.
I can hear your heart in a bird's melody
and also in Mother Earth's serenity.
I can see your love in all creation
and also throughout the whole entire nation.

ONLY IN MY DREAMS

Only in my dreams do I feel your soft touch
and whisper in your ear how I love you so much.
Only in my dreams do I gaze in your eyes
and hold you close to me as we look up at the sky.
Only in my dreams do I hear you call my name
and tell me how your heart feels the same.
Only in my dreams do I kiss your tender lips
and everytime you are near me, it feels like bliss.
Only in my dreams do I see your beautiful face
and everytime you hug me, I feel your warm embrace.
But this is only in my dreams
and when I wake up, my heart begins to scream.

YOU ARE MY EVERYTHING

You are the blood that flows through my veins,
you are the one who erases all of my pains.
You are the moon and the stars that light up the night sky,
you are the one who constantly makes me sigh.
You are the one who chases away all of my fears,
you are the one who makes me laugh and brings me cheers.
You are the air that I breathe every single day,
you are everything I feel and everything I say.
You are the wind that caresses my face,
you are the one who gives me joy and grace.
You are the warm sun that brightens up my day,
you are the beautiful flowers that bloom in the month of may.
You are my dreams that finally came true,
you are the one who I always run to.
You are the answer to my prayers from up above,
you are the true meaning of what is love.
You are my everything.

A POEM FROM THE DIVINE

You are my precious jewel, in the eyes of the divine;
you are my bright shining star, too impossible to hide.
You are my marvelous creation, made with an abundance of light and love;
you are my special gift to earth, sent from heavens above.
You are my unique soul, with a heart of pure gold;
you are my priceless being, who could never be sold.
You are my lovely angel, who heals with kind and gentle words;
you are my beautiful child, who's prayers are always heard.

I AM A WOMAN

I am a woman.
I've cried a thousand tears,
and bleed to death because of my fears.
I am a woman.
My hearts been broken a million times,
and yet I still love them and believe all of their lies.
I am a woman.
I've been abused and neglected all of my life,
and even tried to end it all with a kitchen knife.
I am a woman.
I did whatever I could to make some money,
so I roamed the streets to sell my body.
I am a woman.
I've starved myself to look more pretty,
I've always dreamed of being beautiful and skinny.
I am a woman.
I've been blessed to carry a child inside of my womb,
and experience the precious moments of motherhood.
I am a woman.
I've sacraficed my life to protect my country,
and always fought for justice and equality.
I am a woman.
I've been discriminated because of my love for another,
yet I know that our love is pure and will last forever.
I am a woman.
I continued school to get a higher education,
and received a degree to help my population.
I am a woman.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer today,
and now my life will never be the same.
I am a woman.
I've learned to forgive and let go of the past,
so now I live each day as if it were my last.
I am a woman.
I've learned to love and accept the real me,
so now I finally feel truthfully happy and free.
I am a woman.
